An indispensable tool for finishing surfaces with ceramic tiles is a tile cutter. A tile cutter can be mechanical or electric, and the choice in favor of one or the other depends on the nature of its application. If it is planned to finish the bathroom only in your apartment, then it is advisable to purchase a manual type, since it will be used singly. But for professional activities, electric pneumatic tools are more suitable.
A manual tile cutter has many varieties, but most often they use a tile cutter-tongs, which looks like pliers. Such a tool is relatively inexpensive, and it does not require special skills to work with it. Basically, manual tile cutter is used for ceramic tiles with a thickness of no more than 15mm. An electric tile cutter is ideal for working with thick tiles or if the amount of work is large enough. There are tile cutters with an upper (rail) and lower engine location. The rail tile cutter is more convenient to use, and tiles are cut with maximum precision. In turn, the tile cutter with a lower engine is able to cut tiles of any size and it is quite compact, which is very important for working in small spaces.
